Speech-Language Pathology Services

Our pediatric speech-language program helps your child develop the skills needed for successful communication and feeding. These skills can affect all aspects of daily life, from communicating basic needs to developing social skills and friendships to progress in school. Our certified speech-language pathologists have master's degrees and extensive training in childhood speech, feeding and language problems.

Who is a Candidate for SLP?

After discussing your child's developmental level with your pediatrician, if you have concerns in one or more of the following areas, a referral to SLP services may be recommended:

• Articulation (pronunciation of speech sounds)
• Autism Spectrum Disorders
• Childhood Apraxia of Speech (including PROMPT)
• Expressive Language (using words and sentences to express thoughts)
• Feeding, Chewing and Swallowing disorders (including swallow studies, g-tube weaning, and our intensive feeding program Happy Mealtimes)
• Hearing Loss (using an Auditory Based Care Approach)
• Language Comprehension (understanding concepts, following directions)
• Oromyofunctional Disorders (tongue thrust)
• Reading and Phonics
• Resonance and Cleft Palate (including nasometry and X-ray speech studies)
• Social Skills (including our PALS Program)
• Stuttering Disorders
• Voice Disorders and Vocal Cord Dysfunction

How Do I Get Started?

Identifying your child’s difficulties and strengths through a speech and language evaluation is the first step to assisting a child with communication problems. Our therapists are skilled in administering formal tests as well as providing clinical observation of play, interaction and conversation to decide if your child needs intervention.
