Learning Objectives: As a result of attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize biologic factors associated with neurodevelopmental outcomes; identify major morbidities such as intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)
  • Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), chronic lung disease (CLD), sepsis and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) associated with extremely low birth rate (ELBW) neurodevelopmental outcomes
  • Assess environmental factors and interventions common in the NICU for ELBW infants and their impact on neurodevelopmental outcomes
