Glenn's Story

When new parents, Barbie and Matt, found out they were having a baby it was an unexpected blessing. Barbie was told she couldn't have children, so being pregnant with her son Glenn already seemed like a miracle. But, when they learned that the left side of their baby's heart wasn't developing, they followed their doctor's recommendation and traveled hours from home so Glenn could be born at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Glenn survived his first open heart surgery at five days old and spent the first two and half months of his life in the hospital. Today, he has a feeding tube and machines monitoring his oxygen levels and heart rate, but he's doing well and working on graduating to real food!

Most importantly, he's home with his parents who have no doubt he's a miracle baby - many times over!

Along with the young patients at All Children's who depend on our caring donors, Glenn will also need your support. Like many children with congenital heart problems, he's likely to need special care to protect his health throughout his childhood.

His family is very thankful they can stay closer to home these days for his weekly occupational, physical and speech therapy sessions at All Children's Outpatient Care in Ft. Myers. They were also surprised to meet so many other families who had traveled far from home so that their children could receive the specialized care that All Children's state-of-the-art Pediatric Heart Center provides.

Thank you for choosing All Children's and for helping to make Glenn's miracle story, and so many others, possible!
