Dr. Richard P. Harmel joined the pediatric general surgery program at All Children’s Hospital 20 years ago. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Harmel completed his surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s Hospital Medical Center/Harvard University. Before joining All Children’s he was Associate Professor of Surgery at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Columbus, Ohio. At All Children’s Dr. Harmel has held many positions of leadership on the medical staff and helped guide the opening of the All Children’s Hospital Emergency Center in 1995. He also was original director and founder of the Children’s Hospital-Bayfront Medical Center Joint Pediatric Trauma Program, one of the busiest pediatric trauma programs in Florida.
