More than 80 Pinellas school nurses attended Pediatric Insights & Updates at All Children's on October 19. Cindy Driscoll, RN, BSN, MS, Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, welcomed and thanked the participants for the role school nurses play in keeping kids healthy and safe.
Speakers for program included: Derek Hess, M.D. - Vision Problems; Suzanne Jackman, M.D., Type 2 Diabetes; Jamie Decker, M.D., Cardiac Issues in School-Age Children; Flora Howie, M.D., Autism; and Ajoy Kumar, M.D., Sports Injuries.
"Thank you for yet another wonderful educational program for Pinellas County school health staff," said Rita Becchetti, MHS, RN, Supervisor of School Health Services. "As always, the speakers were all very informative, and focused on topics that are very valuable to our school health staff in identifying and supporting children with acute and chronic health needs. All Children's is a valuable partner to our schools and community."
At the program's conclusion, attendees recognized Rita for her years of service. She will be retiring Dec. 3.
