Walmart / Sam’s Club Day at ACH Celebrates Success!

Two hundred associates from Walmart and Sam's Club visited All Children's Hospital for their annual luncheon on April Walmart and Sams Club Employees visit the ACH SIM Lab19 to celebrate their fundraising success in 2011 and kickoff the 2012 campaign. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Walmart and Sam's Club support of 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. Since 1987, associates have helped raise $12.2 million for All Children's Hospital.

The theme for the event was the 2012 Summer Olympics. Olympic Gold Medalist Brooke Bennett was on hand to offer an inspiring message and a special thank you. All Children's Hospital's first heart transplant recipient, Hunter Ratcliffe, also thanked the associates for all they do to help children at the hospital.

During the past year, Walmart and Sam's Club Associates have been instrumental in raising funds to support several important All Children's projects.

The Walmart/Sam's Club Simulation Center opened this past January. The facility gives All Children's patient care staff a high-tech training lab that simulates a variety of real-life medical scenarios to help staff expand and enhance their clinical skills and prepare for situations they may not see on a daily basis.

A new therapeutic playground at All Children's Outpatient Care in Ft. Myers was also was made possible through the generosity of Walmart and Sam's Club Associates. It will accommodate children with a wide variety of developmental disabilities to help them meet therapeutic goals such as: climbing (physical therapy), gripping (occupational therapy) and following directions and color identification (speech language). It will be especially helpful for children with little or no mobility who are unable to participate in physical play.
