|IHOP's National Pancake Day Benefits ACH|
In celebration of National Pancake Day on February 28th, IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer each guest a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Last year's spring campaign and National Pancake Day raised over $64,000 for All Children's Hospital, your local Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
National Pancake Day dates back to a centuries-old tradition also known as "Shrove Tuesday" or the more popular "Mardi Gras", which heralds the beginning of fasting during Lent. Long ago, strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products, hence the name Pancake Tuesday. For centuries, the English have "flipped" for pancakes on this day with rich lore and colorful events including pancake races. The IHOP National Pancake Day fundraiser is planned each year in honor of this tradition.
