ACH Wins Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council Award
On Friday, March 19, 2010, The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council announced All Children's Hospital as the co-winner of the Charles A. McIntosh, Jr. Award of Distinction during their 18th Annual Future of the Region Awards ceremony.
For the first time, the Council awarded two McIntosh Awards - one to the New All Children's Hospital campus, and one to the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) for its work on developing a comprehensive transportation plan for the region. The award is given to recognize a project of outstanding achievement that makes significant contributions in the areas of regional quality of life, benefit to the environment, innovation and effectiveness.
The awards are in recognition of "an outstanding achievement and contribution that benefits the regional community" (in the categories of Community Service, Cultural/Sports/Recreation, Environmental, Development, Infrastructure, and /or Public Education. ACH entered in the "Development" category for the planning and construction of its new hospital.
The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) is an association of local governments and gubernatorial representatives formed in 1962 to coordinate planning for the community's future and provide an opportunity for sharing solutions among the 43 jurisdictions in the Tampa Bay region. TBRPC is one of eleven regional planning councils in Florida.
