Mignon Steele, RN is the DAISY Award Recipient for September, 2009
Mignon Steele, RN, is the September, 2009 DAISY Award recipient. Mignon has been a nurse in our NICU for seven years. She serves as an excellent resource for our Spanish speaking families. She assists with translating for so many of the day-to-day activities on the unit.
The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients
The staff member that nominated Mignon for the DAISY Award said, "On one particular Sunday, we had a Spanish speaking family whose infant was dying. Although the family was aware of the gravity of the situation, Mignon was able to talk with them about their needs and wishes. She worked with them even though this was not her patient assignment. She also assisted the Chaplin in completing paperwork. If Mignon had not been here, this family's needs would not have been met. We would have had to use the translation phone to communicate. The personal touch needed when dealing with a family's final goodbyes was better met because of Mignon."
