|Darci Gamble, RN is the March 2014 DAISY Award Recipient|
Darci Gamble, RN is the March 2014 DAISY Award recipient. She is a nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital nurse who has provided extraordinary service to our patients.
Darci was nominated by a parent who wrote:
Although every nurse my daughter had was awesome there was one who absolutely went above and beyond to comfort our family and educate us. My wife is a new mother with no medical experience and I am an R.N. with minimal pediatric experience. We were concerned, confused, and mostly just scared when our daughter had a shunt placed. The doctors are great, but we are not always able to be here for rounds which sometimes left many unanswered questions. Two days after the shunt placement, Darci was our daughter's nurse. She absolutely sensed our anxieties and pulled up a chair and allowed us to ask any question at all. She eased our fears and gave us realistic expectations. She helped us understand our "new normal." We are so grateful that we were blessed to have Darci that shift. She gave us advice that has helped us plan for our daughter to come home and more Important, how we can expect our future with our daughter to be. As a nurse, I am most impressed with the level of care that every nurse has given her and grateful to all of them, but Darci has displayed every characteristic of the Daisy Award.
Darci's director added:
Darci consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and is always a team player. She is a strong patient advocate and goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her patients and families. Darci is always willing to help her team members, even if she is busy herself. She has been nominated several times for the Daisy Award and is very deserving of the recognition.
Thank you, Darci, for the compassionate care you provide our patients.
