Paula Keyser is the May 2013 All Children's Hospital Employee of the Month

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize an employee whose dedication, compassion, and knowledge has been priceless to my family. I first met Paula Keyser when my son was barely two years old and was referred to Early Steps due to apraxia. The support we received from Early Steps changed our lives. Little did I know that when we aged out of Early Steps, the dedication to my child would not end. I have struggled to get the support my little boy needs at school and in voicing my frustration to a trusted professional, she reminded me of Paula Keyser and her wealth of knowledge. Paula touches many lives in meaningful ways she may not even be aware of. I reached out to Paula and she assured me that as we had been part of Early Steps, she was happy to help me if she could. As the parent of a child with a disability, I can't express how much that meant.

Once I contacted Paula, everything started to come together quickly. Paula not only directed me to resources to learn how to understand and advocate more effectively for my son on my own, she also helped me with the immediate crisis. Her professionalism and comprehensive knowledge resulted in the resolution of a conflict that had gone on for months. By the next school day, my child had the support he needed. As the parent of a child with a disability, it is difficult to find people who understand how to get things done. Someone like Paula Keyser whose knowledge spans not only her own job, but beyond, is rare. Please accept my deepest appreciation for providing the resources and training that put this dedicated and caring individual into the lives of families in need. My experience with Early Steps demonstrates that there is a great deal of good being done and Paula is an employee who reflects the goodness of the entire organization.

Paula’s Department Director added:

The mom who recognized Paula has hit the nail on the head. Paula is committed to helping anyone who needs assistance. She not only engulfs herself in her day-to-day responsibilities as the Family Resource Specialist in the Early Steps Program, but she is also heavily involved in many ACH projects and committees, and community events. Paula has a positive, "can do" attitude and has devoted her life to making sure kids get the best services and access to the best resources and equipment. Leaving no stone unturned, she researches, networks, and lobbies for special needs children. Paula has taken it to the next level, by sharing her knowledge with others. Paula is an expert in finding the answers to make families lives better. Her fellow employees seek her out as they recognize and respect her knowledge and expertise and guidance to assist in steering families in the right direction to utilize the resources available to them. Paula is a goodwill ambassador for Early Steps and All Children's Hospital.

Paula, thank you so much for your wonderful Service Excellence and all you do for our patients and families and congratulations for being selected the All Children’s Hospital Employee of the Month.
