Latasha Battle, RN is the February 2013 DAISY Award Recipient

Latasha Battle - Feb. 2013 Daisy AwardCongratulations to Latasha Battle, RN who is the February 2013 Daisy Award recipient. Latasha is an RN in the Emergency Center. The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse who has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

Latasha was nominated by a parent who wrote:

I was in a very stressful situation. My son was being taken by ambulance from the Countryside area of Pinellas County to All Children's. We live out of the country and were visiting my father who is ill. At All Children's, Latasha made every effort to ease my stress under a difficult time. She went above and beyond the call of duty by arranging transportation for me and my son to return to Countryside to pick up a rental car. I cannot say enough about her. She is an excellent asset for your hospital.

 Latasha's Department Director added:

"Latasha has been employed at ACH since 1996. When I first met her, she was a RN on the night shift in the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)," said Susan Byrd, Emergency Center Director. "She provided consistent care to our overnight CDU patients. However, the Emergency Center (EC) was right next door. She came to me wanting to learn how to care for EC patients in order to increase her knowledge and provide comfort. She also wanted to better support the needs of our department. She has blossomed into an EC RN, who can care for CDU patients and is now full-time in the EC. Latasha is also studying for her CPEN exam.

"When I reflect back on Latasha and the care she provides, I remember reading many patient letters that compliment her. The theme of all these letters is about how she frequently asks patients if there is anything they need or anything she can get for them. Whether it's crackers, a soft drink or just a warm blanket, her kindness goes a long way. Just this week, she shared a card with me she received from a parent thanking her for her care."

Thank you Latasha, for the compassionate care you provide our patients.
