Neonatal Intensive Care
Our 97-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a regional Level IV NICU as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics, providing the highest level of care. Our team of 14 neonatologists works together with other pediatric subspecialists to provide multidisciplinary care for critically ill infants. Our NICU patients benefit from the latest technologies and therapies and a team approach to care.
Often this care begins even before birth. Our perinatologists (maternal-fetal medicine specialists) care for mothers with high-risk pregnancies. Infants are delivered in the labor & delivery unit on the third floor of All Children’s Hospital and immediately transferred to the NICU. Our neonataologists, pediatric cardiologists, pediatric surgeons and other specialists work with parents prior to delivery to develop a plan of care for the newborn.
Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery
All Children’s Heart Institute provides comprehensive pediatric and perinatal cardiology care for patients with congenital heart defects and other cardiac problems— including evaluation and management of heart defects before birth. Our cardiovascular surgeons perform complex heart surgeries, including transplant, for newborns through teens.
The Heart Institute has cardiac operating rooms, catheterization labs and a 22-room cardiovascular intensive care unit with individual patient rooms where parents may stay overnight.
Our team of pediatric neurosurgeons treats patient with brain tumors, head and spine trauma, and other problems of the brain and spine, working collaboratively with our pediatric epileptologist to offer treatment options for children with seizure disorders.
All Children’s pediatric general surgeons are at the forefront of advanced miniature access surgery, including minimally invasive single incision (“stealth”) surgery. A team of pediatric orthopedic surgeons specialize in scoliosis and other spinal deformities, skeletal trauma and sports injuries.
Critical Care Transport
Our Critical Care Transport team provides lifesaving care, including ECMO, while bringing critically ill patients to All Children’s Hospital.
Cancer & Blood Disorders
Our pediatric cancer program is one of the largest in the southeastern U.S. and provides access to the latest therapies through clinical trials. The pediatric bone marrow transplant program is the largest in Florida and offers the full range of transplant options for cancers, sickle cell disease and metabolic disorders.
Other key programs include a multidisciplinary brain tumor team, sickle cell disease program, state-designated hemophilia center, and Florida’s only program for pediatric clotting disorders.
Our pediatric specialists assess children with developmental delays and disabilities, and our Autism Center provides intensive assessment and Applied Behavior Analysis services.
Endocrinology & Diabetes
Our multidisciplinary pediatric endocrinology team cares for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, growth disorders and other pediatric endocrinological problems.
Research & Education
The All Children’s Research Institute oversees 300 research studies, including trials in hematologyoncology, marrow transplant, cardiology, neonatology, cystic fibrosis and infectious disease.
All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine received approval in 2012 to establish a new pediatric residency program that combines the best resources of both institutions. The pediatric residency program will use an innovative new curriculum that features individual learning plans, early opportunities for research, and a focus on identifying factors critical to maintaining health. The first class of resident physicians will enter the program in July 2014. In addition, All Children’s continues to collaborate with the University of South Florida’s pediatric residency program.
As a top provider of continuing medical education for pediatricians and other child health specialists, we share knowledge aimed at improved outcomes for children.
